Happy End of 2018

Over 10,000 of you beautiful people have chosen to follow The Gilmartin Girls in 2018, and we are ecstatic. If you aren’t in the blogger/influencer world then you may not know, but this is an accomplishment. I finally have the ‘Swipe Up’ feature where you can more easily access my blog, sales, items you like, etc. I say all of this to say THANK YOU. We wouldn’t be here without each and every single one of you. I’ve worked hard, made goals, and tried my hardest to share content that you all will enjoy. I can’t wait to share so much more in the year ahead. Can you believe it though? Seriously…. 2018 is coming to a close. I feel like I blinked and here we are. I put my blog on hold briefly because life went a little topsy turvy a short bit ago, and I had way too much on my mind, so I hit Instagram hard, Facebook moderately, and put a pause button on my blog. A lot has happened, but let’s start with the beginning…

2018JANUARY

We moved out of the city where both my husband and I were born and raised. Wichita, KS is where we got married, bought our first house, and brought our two girls into the world. We set off for an adventure of a lifetime that took us to Atlanta for the first 6 weeks of the year. We explored all there was to explore and even through in our first trip of the year to Disney World.

FEBRUARY

A few days before Valentine’s Day, our family set off to live in Houston for the next few months. We settled in for almost 12 weeks which seemed like an eternity. I also made the bold decision to take the girls to Washington DC for a few days by myself. It was the trip of a lifetime and I would do it all over again. We also snuck in our first beach trip to Galveston that was only one hour away.

MARCH

As our life continued in Houston, we attended our first rodeo, we made another trip to the beach Galveston, a trip to Great Wolf Lodge in the Dallas area, and then our first trip back to Wichita. During this time, one of my friends from Kindergarten got married, I gained a new nephew, and the girls and I celebrated Easter with family before heading back.

APRIL

Some of our dearest girlfriends came to visit us in Houston for a long weekend, and boy was this a treat. We spent another day in Galveston, hit the Children’s Museum, and of course, went shopping. At the end of the month, my parents came to visit for our last week in the great state of Texas.

MAY

Ahhh May was the best! The first 3 weeks were spent on the Gulf of Mexico in Destin, Florida. We had a little chill time, and then we moved to Panama City for another wonderful month by the ocean. The last week of May we headed back to Orlando for our second week of the year to Disney World complete with a trip to Gator World.

JUNE

It was time to spend a little time on the East Coast by living in Port Saint Lucie, Florida. We were less than two hours from Disney World, so back we went for a long weekend making it our 3rd trip this year.

JULY

We finished June and started July the same in Key West, Florida. It was one of my favorite trips to date. We rounded off the trip by celebrating our 7th anniversary in Miami with girls in tow. The girls and I didn’t sit still long because July also included a trip to meet my parents. We hit many Florida hotspots including Clearwater Beach, Crystal River, Weeki Wachi, Apalachicola, and Destin. We finished off the month celebrating our sweet Sailor turning 3 years old.

AUGUST

The month started out still living on the East Coast of Florida. Our same friends that came to Houston flew clear to Orlando to spent a few days with us including our 4th time this year at Disney World. We celebrated Anthony’s birthday, and then made a last minute trip back to Wichita, so Presley could celebrate her 7th birthday surrounded by family and friends.

SEPTEMBER

The fall brought a new adventure in Washington DC. We lived in the heart of the city surrounded by all of the monuments, the White House, and all of the Smithsonian museums. Being the history lover that I am, I can easily say that the five weeks we lived there were the best in my life. With Philadelphia only a couple hours away, we couldn’t help but make our way up there, and check it off our bucket list.

OCTOBER – a BIG change

The end of the month brought my parents to town and a once in a lifetime opportunity to tour the West Wing of The White House, tour the Capitol Building including going out on the Speaker of the House Balcony, and a 28th birthday to remember (along with so many more unbelievably cool experiences). It was our last week in DC. It was at the end of this week that we parted ways with a company we’d been traveling for that we didn’t feel aligned with our morals and values. We had the ride of a lifetime. I live with zero regrets. I choose not to give all the details and speak ill because it’s just not me. I choose kindness. Florida has had our heart for awhile, so we made the decision to head to the beach for awhile. We finished the month on another high note by spending Halloween with my mom at Disney World making it our fifth trip this year.

NOVEMBER

The Gilmartin’s have temporarily settled into Florida (at least for the winter). Life has been somewhat normal (which is strange) with Anthony working while I stay home and homeschool our girls. Our family is happy and healthy and know that Jesus has even bigger adventures for us in 2019. We rounded off November with our 6th and final trip of the year to our other home, Walt Disney World.

DECEMBER

We’re back in Kansas briefly to celebrate Christmas and New Years surrounded by so many of the people that we love. We have big things happening in 2019, and I can’t wait to SHARE, SHARE, SHARE.

THANK YOU for sticking with us, for following us, for liking us, for encouraging us, for loving us, for checking on us. It is all noticed and appreciated. Cheers to another beautiful year even when you things surprise us, disappoint us, discourage us. Stay positive. Trust Jesus. Love others. And rock on!

Happy New Year to you all,

The Gilmartin Girls
